Biography
Charles Kanjama SC is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of more than twenty years' standing and the Managing Partner and Head of the Disputes Resolution Department at Muma & Kanjama Advocates, which he co-founded in 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Second Class Upper Division) from the University of Nairobi (2001) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (2002), and was admitted to the Bar in June 2003. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Certified Professional Mediator, a Certified Public Secretary and a Certified Public Accountant — among a small number of Kenyan professionals to hold all four qualifications.
Early in his career he pioneered digital law reporting in East Africa and helped revive the East Africa Law Reports after a ten-year gap, establishing standards for case reporting still referenced in the profession today. He rose through Law Society of Kenya leadership as a Council Member and Treasurer (2012–2014), the founding elected Chair of the LSK Nairobi Branch (2016–2020) — where he built the branch's structures, secretariat and digital elections from the ground up — and Chair of the LSK Caucus of Branch Chairs (2017–2020).
Kanjama was conferred the rank of Senior Counsel in the 4th Cohort on 7 August 2022, and currently serves as Secretary of the Senior Counsel Bar of Kenya. Following that conferment, he was elected on 19 February 2026 as the 52nd President of the Law Society of Kenya for the 2026–2028 term, succeeding Faith Odhiambo, having campaigned on the platform "Time is Ripe. Strong LSK for All."

Represented the 7th Interested Party in constitutional proceedings on sections 162(a), 162(c) and 165 of the Penal Code, submitting that the right to privacy is not absolute and can be limited under Article 24.

Governor election petition; argued that non-compliance with the Constitution and electoral laws, together with allegations of misconduct, are vital foundations of an election petition warranting the court's consideration.

Mentorship
Charles has mentored young lawyers and law students continuously since 2000 — first at the University of Nairobi (Parklands Campus), Moi University Eldoret and the Kenya School of Law (2000–2010), then through LSK's young lawyers' mentorship programmes (2010–2016) and the Nairobi mentorship programme (2016–2020). As Managing Partner and pupil master at Muma & Kanjama Advocates he has personally trained more than thirty pupils and advocates. He also teaches Commercial Law, Tax Law, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Legal Ethics at Strathmore Law School, and served with the Nairobi Legal Awards Trust from 2017 to 2025, contributing to recognition of legal excellence among lawyers, law firms and legal departments.
